Lessons of imperfection,
fuel personal growth

I think I was around eleven years old when I was told that I was fake. To this day, I can remember that conversation and how it made me feel.

I’ve grown so much since then and have a very different view on life. As a child I wanted to fit in, be liked and be everyone’s friend. I wanted to be perfect so much so, I became fake.

Beauty of Life

The beauty of life, lies in embracing our flaws and the unique quirks that define us. So I write this post today, about being perfectly imperfect.

Overall I try hard to love myself, now that doesn’t mean I’m happy all day everyday, but it does mean I put a shift in to be the best version of myself.

Years ago when I asked my mother why my five fingers and toes, were slightly different to my sisters and brothers? she replied “because you were handmade and that means you’re unique”.

I really didn’t get the message at the time, but I’ve learned that although we have many commonalities as humans, we are all unique. And being human, means we mess up.

Imperfection is Essential

Nature itself teaches us that imperfection is essential to life. Look at the irregular patterns on a butterfly’s wings, or the unpredictable way a river carves its path through the land. These irregularities make our environment richly textured and deeply beautiful.

They mirror our own human imperfections which are not inadequacies but authentic expressions of our individuality. If you’ve ever spoken to a cancer survivor, they’ll tell you they have war wounds, not scars.

In a world obsessed with perfection, the true beauty often lies in embracing our flaws and the unique quirks that define us. From the delicate inconsistencies of handmade wax melts to the myriad imperfections found in nature, being imperfect is a part of life we should embrace.

Being Vulnerable

I’m most vulnerable when I open up to people, because there’s something odd in some, that if they know your flaws, they tend to use it against you.

However, some of my best and most special moments have come from that same vulnerability. I’m not going to lie, I’m an emotional being and it’s part of me. I love, I cry, I laugh, I have a whole hosts of emotions and that makes me, who I am.

Being creative is a form of vulnerability, can you imagine if no-one likes your art? Every time someone makes an order, I feel blessed, that you’ve found me, had faith in me and that you like what we do here.

Mistakes in Life

I've made hundreds, if not thousands, of mistakes in my life, and I fully expect to make many more.

Each misstep has been a stepping stone, an essential part of my journey towards personal and professional growth.

It's through these imperfections that I've learned the most valuable lessons and have come to appreciate the authentic beauty in the world around me.

Drawing inspiration from various walks of life, we see this theme of imperfection as a cornerstone for growth and creativity.

In the arts, the beauty of a jazz improvisation lies in its unpredictable deviations and spontaneous turns. In science, breakthroughs often happen through 'mistakes'.

Even in our daily interactions, it is our personal quirks and idiosyncrasies that make us relatable and endearing to others.

Wax Melts

I’m obsessed with ticking everything off on my to-do list each day, else I don’t feel accomplished. I have to balance that with making sure I do a good job in the first place, else what’s the point.

I've learned the little things matter, because they all add up, to one big thing. And that big thing is Cayla Henri’s wax hearts.

Our wax melts, much like each of us, are handcrafted with care and individual attention, yet no two are exactly alike.

Each melt comes with its own set of unique characteristics, slight variations in colour, shape, and scent that make it one of a kind.

These small variations are not flaws, but rather they tell a story, that each has been crafted by hand not churned out by a mechanical machine.

They symbolise the beauty of human touch and remind us that imperfection is the signature of personalisation.

Embrace Your Flaws

Embracing our flaws doesn’t mean settling for mediocrity. At our core, we are all perfectly imperfect.

It connects us, teaches us, and most importantly, it makes us human. Let us celebrate our imperfections for they are what make us truly beautiful.

As we continue to navigate through our lives, making mistakes and learning from them, let’s remember to extend the same grace to ourselves that we offer to a beautifully imperfect wax melt.

After all, it’s the off-notes that create the most memorable moments.
